Ahmaud Arbery Killers Former Police & Son Arrested For Murder

There have been a public outcry for justice over the murder of an African American Georgia man named Ahmaud Arbery after the graphic video of his killing surfaced online.

The video purports to show the last minute, where the Black man was shot down by a father and son who chased him while he was jogging through his neighborhood.

It was announced on Thursday that the killers have been arrested and charged. Ahmaud Arbery, 25, went for a jog in his small town in Georgia when Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son, Travis McMichael, 34, pointed him as a suspect in burglaries in the area so they would enact a citizen’s arrest.

The former cop and his son hopped in their trucks, chased Ahmaud down, and shot him in the street. Video footage of the incident was taken and shows the moment Ahmaud was killed.

Public figures and politicians came forward, calling for the arrest of Gregory and Travis McMichael, as the two men hadn’t been charged in connection with any crime at the time.

Eventually, USA Today reported that the culprits are being held at the Glynn County Jail.

“Our goal in every investigation is to seek the truth,” GBI Director Vic Reynolds told reporters Wednesday.

“And that’s exactly what we intend on doing in this matter. I realize that emotions are running high in this community and they’re running high throughout the state, and the last thing anyone wants to do is extend us any patience. But I also realize that this investigation must be done correctly and therefore I must ask for a little of your patience.”
